Back to Baja

Almost exactly one year ago, Janet and I had purchased a new truck and pointed it south.  We headed off for the farthest reaches of Baja California.  The truck has a few more miles on it now, but it and us are ready for another trip.  Again down Baja, to Cabo San Lucas.  We'll be making a few new stops on our way, and visit with some of the friends we have made on previous trips.

One of the motivations for this trip, besides simply enjoying the experience, is to meet our daughter and her friends in Cabo. They will be flying in around Valentine's Day and we were invited to hang out with them a bit.  We have a few haunts that we'd love to take them to, to show them some of the places that they otherwise probably wouldn't find or know about.  Great excuse for a road trip!

We had thought about riding the motorcycle down.  I've done it before and it's a terrific way to see the sights and experience travel.  To ride a bike from the northwestern U.S. to southern California and into Mexico at this time of year however, takes a more robust stamina than we could imagine mustering.

The logistics of shipping the bike from Seattle to California brought its own set of complications.  Hence, four wheels again for this trip.  Besides, I'm looking at a few off pavement paths as part of our route and that offers some interesting challenges when you're two up on a bike.

Every time we visit Mexico, we have a great time, make new friends, bring back lasting memories and look forward to the next trip.  We expect nothing less this time.  Read all about it here.  I may not post every day, but I will as often as we have the time and wi-fi.
