Hittin the road. Mile 0

We finally hit the road about 8:30 this morning (retired people don't tend to start things any earlier than necessary).  We took the easy and boring route of simply grinding our way down I-5.  A few easy miles here means we can spend more time in Baja and still arrive when expected. 

Once the rain in Washington subsided, we could at least appreciate the hills and meadows of Oregon and the mountains and pasture lands in Northern California. 

By the time our "donkeys" were good and tired of the ride, we found a few good beers, some terrific food and a suitable nightcap in Redding, CA.  

We'll continue south tomorrow.  We have a few favorite haunts to visit in San Diego but may stop a little short of there to check out a couple places that we've heard about, a little further north.
