The Road to Baja Page 3

I We made our target today.  Tonight we're staying in Eureka, California.  It was only 217 miles +\-, but the rather slow and twisty road made for a full day.  We actually overshot our target and visited the Loleta Cheese Factory before heading back to find a room.

Great organic cheeses that we will be snacking on during the upcoming miles.

Back in town, it was easy to find a room.  We positioned ourselves close to the Historic District so we could walk to wherever we decided to go.  We perused some of the shops that were open on a Sunday and eventually stumbled upon the "Humboldt Bay Tourism Center".

This is a cool place!   They have coffee in the morning, but by the time we got there, we could buy a beer/wine (all locally grown and produced) and if we liked them on social media (or checked in), they'd give us a fresh locally caught raw oyster to go with it.

Their offerings were so good that we bought several more.

We also took the recommendations of several locals and went to "Cafe Waterfront" for dinner.  The locals were right yet again. Fantastic food and staff and ambiance!

A nightcap at the Irish pub at the end of the historic area and we'll head back to our room to get rested for tomorrow.

The weather finally let up a bit.

Grey sky's when we left our hotel with blustery but mixed showers and sun breaks the rest of the way.  Much easier traveling…

We should find ourselves in San Jose tomorrow.
